Barcelona (CNA).- Political "stagnation" also has negative effects on the economy and it can lead to "instability". This is what employers’ association CECOT's president Antoni Abad warned this Wednesday, during his meeting with Parliament's President, Carme Forcadell. "We can't continue like this" he stated "98% of CECOT associates refuse the status quo". Abad also called for "measures" to modernise Catalonia. In order to launch the necessary measures to improve the Catalan sectors' funding system and contribute to its growth, Abad expressed his "wish" for Catalonia to constitute a new government "as soon as possible". He emphasised the need to finish with the "temporary character" of the current executive. In turn, Forcadell assured that she is "hopeful" regarding pro-independence forces 'Junts Pel Sí' and CUP’s negotiations over constituting a new government.
"The sooner we have a new government, the better it will be for the Catalan economy" stated Abad. "We have a current government which is working but we wish to have a government without a temporary character". "A situation of political stagnation is also negative" because "when there are no answers ahead, the situation gets really tense" he said. "The country we have now is not the country we need" he stated "98% of CECOT associates refuse the status quo". According to Abad, Catalonia "has to modernise" at the pace that the situation requires, for example, improving the autonomic funding. During the meeting, CECOT's president also confirmed to Forcadell that Catalonia's economy is recovering in terms of employment and internationalisation capability.
In his appearance before the media, right after the meeting, Abad denied that Parliament's President, Carme Forcadell, was "worried" with the state of the negotiations between 'Juts Pel Sí' and CUP. "She told me she was hopeful" he said.
